Resin Calibration
#1
I get that the photon has been around longer and has more users, but isn't there anything like this excellent resin calibration resource available for the mars...?

https://github.com/altLab/photon-resin-calibration

It would be great to have something like this. It would make using different resins easier and eliminate many of the questions asked on the forum.

Many Elegoo should do one. It would really help.

Hi Everyone,

I received my Elegoo Mars a couple of days ago. I am new to resin 3D printing, and while looking for calibration test pieces, I also stumbled upon https://github.com/altLab/photon-resin-calibration and thought it would be a good idea to have something equivalent for the Elegoo Mars.

After reading somewhere that the Elegoo Mars firmware does print .photon files I had to try it myself and it turns out it does recognize them. So I forked the photon-resin-calibration repo to https://github.com/dxxb/photon-resin-cal...legoo-mars and added an experimental "resin-calibration-setup.gcode" file for the Elegoo Mars. I am not an expert but I believe the first test was a success, pictures attached. The first was taken when the calibration sheet was still attached to the build plate, the second after curing with a brighter paper below it to improve the visibility of some details.

Please read instructions (from https://github.com/dxxb/photon-resin-cal...0a74cdbd75) here:

Quote:    ElegooMars: remove photon test setup/teardown gcode and add experimental Elegoo Mars setup gcode

    - Print resin_calibration_setup.gcode to setup the printer for testing.
    - Print one or more exposure calibration files without power cycling the printer.

Test settings are not saved to non-volatile memory so power-cycling the printer
restores normal operation. This is intentional.

The first test was successful using:

    - Elegoo Mars: "V4.2.20.3_LCDM/1440x2560/F2.9"
   - Resin: Elegoo Standard Grey
    - Previously saved persistent settings from: "ChiTu Mainboard SpecificationV3.0.9.gcode"
    - Test settings from: "resin-calibration-setup.gcode" included in this commit
    - Calibration test file: "resin-test-50u.B100.2-20.photon"

Note that another fork by toluse (see https://github.com/toluse/photon-resin-calibration) seems to be also working towards the same goal. However, I haven't tried calibration tests from toluse's fork (yet).

Very cool, thanks!

The latest version of the Mars firmware doesn't seem to read *.photon files. V4.3.2_LCDF/1440x2560/F2.13
I tried printing a photon file, but the touch screen just said unrecognised file type (or something like that).
Am I doing some thing wrong, or is there a trick to getting the printer to print a photon file?

Why would you want to do do such a thing?
Using Chitubox and setting the correct printer there (Elegoo Mars) you will get a .cbddlp-file which your Mars will print without issues.

The resin exposure test files are only available in the .photon format, not the Elegoo format as far as I can find.

Hi there.

I own an Elegoo Mars Pro, and it seems it cant print the *.cbddlp files, only *.ctb

are there any resources in .ctb format ?
thanks!

Bringing this up again. I've finally decided it's time to do proper resin calibration on my mars pro, just to find that this is neither a popular topic nor actually working on the mars pro.

Did anybody have any success with this?
I am puzzled and feel bummed that this is not a standard feature buildt into the firmware ...

I would love to run this test as well on the Mars Pro I've had for a week. I've downloaded the files and watched the video, and it seems that this test was doable with an older version of the Elegoo Mars firmware that accepted photon files (?).

The original github for this test does include a link to the cad file that was used to create the test, and one can follow that link and export an STL file from the Fusion 360 web interface. But can we run the gcode to disable peeling on the Elegoo Mars Pro (I think that's what the "test mode" gcode does)?
