how can this be latest 4.2.19 ?
my printer say 4.3.1

It is the latest to have been released publicly by Mars...

The "M20" series machine I received in May of this year has version 4.3.2

Sorry for being dense here...
Thanks

you’re not being dense lol. I’m pretty new to mars too, but 4 years on fdm. It’s a classic with those that you need to reset ‘home’ when you upgrade firmware. So try that and see if the grinding has gone.
Ah!  Well I did do that - multiple times now to level the build plate on 1, 2 and 3 pieces of paper.  It always levels/homes perfectly, but then when I print it does this wierd grind thing.  Just to make this extra weird, it only happens on SOME prints, not all.  I thought it was an issue with the new Chitubox slicer and went back to my older version but that was a red herring it'd seem.  Thanks for the suggestions!

no worries. So, just to be clear, after homing, you can’t come back out of the ‘manual’ screen and click z=0 on the screen top right then?? I have that on my mars pro but I’m away from it at the mo.
That button is on the regular Mars but is disabled so it’s not user changeable.

See my post here about the "Z=0" function...

Thanks, that’s very helpful, alas my Mars is a regular one, not a Pro and that function is disabled on the regular Mars Sad

My series "M20xxx" plain ol' Mars as a working (as described in my linked post) "Z=0" function. What series (first 3 characters of the s/n) is yours? What firmware version is it?

M172; I upgraded to to V4.3.4 LCDF, which was posted here recently.  I’m thinking this might be related, which is why I’m trying to find a good build to go back to.

The good news is that the "Z=0" function really doesn't do anything necessary, perhaps that's why it's disabled in the 4.3.4 firmware you loaded.

If you have not read my post (here, the conclusion of my email exchanges with Elegoo support), please do so--you will see that you are not missing much, if anything, by it's absence...

Your model (actually "release/version/series") is an "M19". 4.3.4 is the latest publiclly released by Elegoo--you can download it here.

However there is no real need to update as it is the same binary as your 4.3.2 version--it's just a relabelled public release of the that  production firmware...
